Metal Roofs: The Revolutionary Roofing Systems
The house needs protection from extreme temperatures and has to be waterproofed. The roof is not just a metal, wood, shingle or cement cover. It is a complex structure designed keeping the climate patterns in mind. It provides for aeration, water and moisture obstruction. All these factors have to be properly in place. Even a minor damage aggravates into a major mishap if not attended to in time. You must get you roof repaired and maintained by roofing repair companies available all across the country including San Diego at the slightest hint of a damage. The roof needs a competent design for it to last a long time. Faulty design is prone to damages over the years.
Proper insulation is the first component of the roof system. The water vapor produced in the house due to various activities like cooking and washing tends to move upwards and cause gradual decay and disintegration of the roof over the years. Insulation prevents this moisture from seeping into the attic or the roof. The insulation needs to be backed up by ventilation so that there is a regular exhaust and intake of air. This keeps the roof dry and free from humidity and moisture.
The heat snagged in the attic walls is also debilitating because this heat aggravates the moisture which damages the roof by rising upwards. The buildup of ice on the roof is no less damaging to the structure. Ice lets water permeate through the roof which damages the walls too. This eventually leads to the growth of molds and mildew. There is a formation of ice dams when the waterproofing is not done properly. The Building Council codes prescribe the minimum degree of insulation and air tightness. Make sure that this is met by your contractor.
The concept of metal roofing is quite new and recent but it is slowly growing in popularity across the country. People are accepting it gradually as a better option to other types of roofing materials but a lot of us are still not aware of the advantages of a metal roof and the protection it provides. A metal roof holds a lot of superiority over the regular traditional roofing materials like wood, cement or shingles. Some of which are:
Metal is heat, water and cold resistant.
It is longer lasting hence you it proves less expensive in the long run as you don't have to repair it every now and then.
It is not cumbersome to install as it doesn't weigh as much as conventional roofing materials. Its installation and fixing is pretty simple too and can be done in much less time as compared with other types of roofs.
Metal roofs have a lot of longevity. An average metal roof lasts for 15-20 years which is a lot more compared to an asphalt roof. As they are not prone to water or moisture permeation there is no chance of growth of molds and mildews.
A metal roof also adds to the value of the house. Insurance companies charge lesser premiums on the metal roofed house insurance.
Metal roofs are suited to all types of houses in San Diego and elsewhere. They are customized according to the design and construction of the house. They are all weather resistant and age well. There is absolutely no decay or rot in the metal roofs so there is very less maintenance and upkeep involved. You need not lose sleep over it getting damaged by rodents or mites. Metal roofing proves to be energy efficient alternatives because a metal roof doesn't absorb heat and the interiors don't heat up during the harsh summer sun. During winters, the heat remains inside the metallic roof thus naturally warming up the house. This keeps your energy bills low too. You can choose from a lot of patterns, designs, colors and finishes available in metal roofs.
