Stocks rise after durable goods, home prices beat forecasts

The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 143.95 points to 11,320.71. The Nasdaq Composite Index added 21.63 points to 2,467.69 and the S&P 500 Stock Index rose 15.25 points to 1,177.60. The markets responded early to a report showing orders for durable goods rose 4 percent in July led by autos and commercial aircraft.
