Report: States Should Prioritize Repair Over New Roads
A new report, “Repair Priorities: Transportation spending strategies to save taxpayer dollars and improve roads,” says states currently spend 43% of their total transportation money on repair, compared with 57% on new projects. The report, sponsored by Smart Growth America and Taxpayers for Common Sense, suggests states could spend less overall on transportation if they spent a larger portion repairing existing roads. (More
