Untold until now: Story of slave acted out in Clarksville

Ben McGee signed a letter of indenture Dec. 10, 1802. Slavery was illegal in Indiana at the time, so indentured servitude - with a promise of eventual freedom and property - was commonly used as a way for slave owners coming from other states to skirt the rules.
